Question on message during boot up

S

Scott

During my system's boot up, the following box appears:

Microsoft Visual C: Runtime Library

Buffer overrun detected

Program C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\installer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the
program's internal state. The program cannot safely
continue execution and must now be terminated.

This message recently appeared. When I click ok the box
closes and system finishes booting up.

Any thoughts on what this problem is and ways to correct it
would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott

I have the same issue since 7/3/04, coincidentally, after the last
Windows Update that I did on Friday, 7-3-04 The file (installer.exe)
will delete, but returns after a reboot with the same horrible error
message -- MS Visual C++ Runtime Library ............ buffer
overflow.....internal security.....must shut down.... yada yada.

I am not a newbie, am above average in tech knowledge, and surely do
have all the lastest and greatest virus, firewall, malware, adware,
and spy softwares with updates to subscriptions, yet, now I get
this???? Since the Windows Update on 7/3/04, when I try to go to MS
Update via the Start Menu, I am now hijacked across the Internet to
"threatlevel.com". I've added that to Zone Alarm now. Geez, Mr. Bill,
what the f____ :-(

Any recomendations to eliminate the C:Windows\temp\installer.exe are
greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Mayle

I normally do via Start Menu. I've added threatlevel.com to Zone Alarm
now.

None of my security programs show there's anything wrong. Any
recommendations to eliminate the C:Windows\temp\installer.exe are
greatly appreciated.
