'New programs installed' message from 'start' button

How can I get rid of the 'New programs installed' message that appears
everytime I click the 'start' button, even on programs that have been
installed and run at least once? This is so annoying... why does Microsoft
think this is something everyone wants to see? Using Win xp Home sp2.

Right click on the Start button and select Properties from the
menu.
On the Start Menu tab, hit the Customize button.
In Customize Start Menu, click on the Advanced tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Highlight newly
installed programs".
Hit OK twice.

Good luck
