Running Win XP Home. My Start button has moved to the top right.
I have unlocked the Task Bar but when I try to drag the Start button, when I
click on it, my list of programs comes up. Thanks

Left click, hold on any vacant space on the bar and drag it to the side you
want.

The Start button is part of the Windows taskbar. Drag the taskbar,
not the button within it, to whichever side of the screen you want it
attached.

What has moved is not the Start button, but the Task Bar. The Start button
is part of the Task Bar, so moves with it. If you try to drag the Start
button, what you describe is exactly what will happen. You need to drag the
entire Task Bar, by clicking on an used part of it.

Here's my standard post on this subject:

Although by default the Task Bar appears on the bottom of the screen, it can
be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any side to
another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it where you want it.
Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge; clicking on the edge and
dragging will resize it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it and
uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

I submit them but they never show up. Where may I send an email with all
the nutty stuff that's happening on my new HP Invent with XP Pro? I have
2 Spyware programs, AVG, and run Trendmicro weekly, and defrag in Safe
Mode, every month, etc. and crazy things are occurring.

I think its a processor problem, in fact, one HP "tech" told me that on
the phone, but contacting them over and over again since this was 3
months old, they drop my calls, or "lose" my case, and Mr. Herd, the
Pres. promises to "fix this issue" and that's all I hear.

Programs disappear, colors screw up, I can't see things due to the color
problems, and sheesh, so much more. I did get NSW removed. That helped
for a while.

Thank you.

Post them just as you posted this query. However, no one here can help
you resolve your warranty support issues; for that, you'll need to deal
with HP. (It does sometimes help to involve your state Attorney
General's consumer protection division, though.)

Thank you. I posted the query because my prior posts did not show up,
and I couldn't figure out why.

I've gone through the HP Chairman's office six times, and now I've been
informed that my business desk top computer has a "Notebook" serial
number on it. Hence, no one could understand what the problem was about
(they didn't 'think'!).

It may XP Pro but I certainly cannot figure this out, nor can three
state technologist with Blind Services--which provided me with my
equipment--and purchased same from HP and MS on a State contract.

Thank you.

_____

If your system came through a state contract with HP, there should be a
special support section dedicated to those state contracts. For example,
the University of Georgia has a state contract with Dell... there is a
direct number to contact Dell support for equipment supplied under the
contract. Keep pushing the 'state technologists' AND ask for the direct HP
support number. HP is also the source for any Windows XP Pro support, not
Microsoft.
