New Programs Installed in Start menu

Everytime I click on the Start button a message balloon pops up saying New
Programs Installed. I have used all the programs highlighted, and yet they
are still always highlighted. What do I need to do to get rid of this??

Disable "New Programs Installed" Notification...

1) Right-click Start and select Properties from the menu to bring up the Taskbar and Start Menu dialog.
2) Click the Customize button and select the Advanced tab.
3) Uncheck "Highlight newly installed programs" and click OK, then click OK on the Taskbar and Start Menu dialog as well.

That should put an end to those annoying messages.

Vagabound,

I have tried to load Lotus SmartSuite and Wizard (I using XP Home Edition on
new emachine) says that I don't have enough disk space at the very end of
down load. I checked and I have lots of space left. I choose to put it in
the C:\lotus drive, but it shows the E: drive which is my CD drive. It will
not let me choose the C or D drives. Any suggestions?

Just so I understand completely...

You have an install CD with Lotus SmartSuite and you are trying to install it on your Windows XP Home computer. Is that correct?

At what point do you specify "c:\lotus" as the target folder for the installation? Does it allow you to choose the C drive then specify a new folder named "lotus"? Do you have to type in the C drive by hand because it will not allow you to choose it? Do you already have a folder named "lotus" on the C drive?

The answers to these questions will help tremendously.

Vagabound,

Yes, I have a CD of SmartSuit and am trying to load it on Windows XP. It
selects the directory as C:\lotus for me, but there is a place that you can
change it if you want to. Since that is where I wanted it I left it as it
was. It is after this that you hit INSTALL and that is where it tells you
there is not enough disk space and either choose fewer Installation options
(which I had only choosen Wordpro & Components) or choose another drive
location. It shows three drives locations. Drive E: is highlighted (this is
my CD drive) and it will not allow you to select C or D drives. I have tried
clicking, Tabbing down, arrows, and it will not allow you to choose the other
drives.
Thanks for the help. Whunter or aka goats.

Do you already have a folder named "Lotus" on your C drive? How much available space do you have on your C drive?

Perhaps there is already another application residing in and using C:\Lotus, like Lotus Notes?

Have you tried changing the folder to C:\Lotus\SmartSuite?

Just how OLD is this version of Lotus Smart Suit? My guess is that the
method it uses to check free space wraps to a negative number for that
much drive. I would bet the "support" FAQ at the web site will confirm
that. As a work around you could "reduce" free space till the install
completes, or maybe bypass the "main installer" an install individual apps.
