NEED HELP - for hotfix (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 831938 )

Hello,

I'm experiencing the bug as outlined in Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 831938. The article states that a
hotfix IS available, and to contact MS for support. I
haven't been able to locate the hotfix, or ANY way of
contacting MS without some sort of 'a fee may apply'
message.

The Article also states that if you're not *severely*
affected by the problem, to wait for the next service
pack. Well, I'm SEVERELY affected. I can't access ANy of
my shared documents - which is pretty much everything, as
I have a small home network. I have backups, but it's
quite inconvenient for workflow...

So how do I get my hotfix?? Any response would be much
appreciated.

It *TELLS* you in the article, if you'd bothered to read it properly!
Suggest you read it again, taking special note of paragraph four, which
begins "*Note* in special cases, charges that..."

In that case call support, and lead off immediately by saying you want
this hotfix because you are severely affected. You will not then be
charged. You may be asked to provide feedback on how effective the fix
is and whether there are any side effects

oooh. A little touchy, are we?
I very well NOTED, the 'note' that merely states that
whether any charges apply, it is at the discretion of the
MS technician. Not very reassuring if you ask me.
Furthermore, having now used the MS support system, I'm
certainly not any more reassured than when I started. They
merely referred me to my OEM supplier... hmmmm - seems
kind of dodgy. Do they have a hotfix or not?
