MY WINDOWS FIREWALL IS OFF

Hi everybody,
My windows firewall is switched off and I cant get it to turn.I get error
message of ..windows firewall settings cannot be displayed bcoz associated
service not running.
I have tried netsh winsock reset but it did not help. Any suggestions pliz?

I don't know why you think netsh would correct your problem. It sounds like
you went into Services and tried to turn on Windows Firewall. If not, then
you should have. Maybe try this article:

Just to make sure: What OS are you using and do you have Windows OneCare
installed?
You were using the form of netsh that fixes the lsp chain, not the
firewall. I'm not positive, but shouldn't the XP firewall be off if you are
using the OneCare firewall?

it will also turn off if you are using a third party firewall. Most of them
when they install turn off Windows Firewall.
