Money 2004 Trial

After intalling Money 2004 trial version about 2-weeks
ago, I finally read the small print stating that data
entered in that version won't be available in Money 2003.
Foolishly (I think) I unintalled the 2004 version. Now
the 2003 version cannot locate the money files. The error
reads "Money cannot locate 'C:/documents and
settings/victor/my documents/my money.mny' or cannot open
it, possibly because it is a read only file or you do not
have permission to change it, or your disk drive is write
protected. If you have chosen the correct file and it
cannot be accessed, you will need to click ok and open
your most recent backup file. If the file is being used
by another application, close it in the other application
and clik of to try again". I have re-installed 2003,
rebooted the computer, and tried accessing the backup
file, all to no avail. Have I lost my information
permanently? If so, can I even start Money 2003 anew?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Listen to the error messages. Check:

1. Use Explorer to check that the file does the file 'C:/documents and
settings/victor/my documents/my money.mny' exists.
2. If not there, serach for it on the disk using Windows searching.
3. If you find it, check properites (right mouse) to see that it is not
read only.
4. Check that you have permissions to read the file (XP permissions).
Read about permissions in articles in Windows "help" about "System
Admininstration". Could it be you were using a different ID when using
Money?

I don't think un-installing the trial version will have deleted the file
with your data. If it's gone, gone for some other reason.
