microsoft has encountered a problem

The pre-installer scanner of Norton SystemWorks 2004 stops before it is 100%
complete when running the CD in Compaq Presario NR1010NX, at which time there
is a message: Microsoft has encountered a problem and the process will close.
When going to the Symantec Website to run detection scan, there are no
viruses. Should I continue with installing Norton SystemWorks in this
computer anyway? When using the CD on an older Compaq 2510 computer, the
pre=install scanner runs all the way up to 100%.

Based on the number of complaints I've seen in these newsgroups about
problems with all Norton stuff I would say - DON'T INSTALL IT.
