Im really on the verge of never using this browser /OS again. Currently
running IE 7 beta 3. IE 7, latest, same problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled
sun java v 6 beta2 three times. Keep getting error "Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close". the problem is with java related
websites. Microsoft help and support is encountering the same problem. I
have all the latest updates and a very good antivirus program and use spybot
and hijackthis and adaware from lavasoft and Counterspy all up to date. What
the hell is goin on? I cant google it because its system wide.

Try using the full release of IE and not the beta.

As this is an IE type of question (for which I don't know the answer or I'd
tell you here) here's the usual response for that:

Can you find the corresponding error in Event Viewer and post a copy?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Running sfc /scannow again...will try also try unistalling IE7 beta 3 and
using the generic IE 6 to see if problem persits. Errors started at the
removal of Anti-keylogger program. Have a backup if all else fails but i
hate using them cause they can really mess current stuff up.

Uninstalled IE7 beta3 and problem vanished. IE 6 works and msinfo32 works
without errors. I guess I'll try again with IE 7 but im guessing the same
problem will occur.

Your problem as you have identified is clearly specific to IE7 as IE 6
works as required. You are one of the first to have posted Event Viewer
Error Reports so there are no real clues in Google. I have noticed a
number of posted concerning concerning ieframe.dll but few solutions.

IE7 does not work properly with a number of Add Ons. There is a list in
the link which follows:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/default.aspx

Under Tools that are incompatible with Internet Explorer there is detailed
advice on how to disable Toolbars.

You would be likely to get better help if you took your problem to

That link should keep my busy for a while. Thanks for the assistance. IE 7
BETA3 did work for some time with no problems and only when Windows update
installed IE7 over the top of it did I start getting errors. But I was
having concurrent problems with winsock, windows installer v3.1 and some
other proggies I was trying out. I'm leaning toward a fresh install of xp.
too many weird problems cropping up.
