"Application name" has encountered a problem and need to close...

From time to time some application creates an error, hang and so forth. This
usually creates an error report saying:
"Application name" has encountered a problem and need to close... we are
sorry for the inconvenience. Followed by the options "Send to Microsoft" and
"Don't send".
I would very much like to know where windows places these error logs, in
order to detect them and clean up by deleting them. I have not been able to
find any relevant information or KB articles on Microsoft.com. Could someone
help?
Thanks, Anders

Can't help you with the location, but I would like to ask how much disk
space you figure these log files occupy?

And what about the log files your software creates -- during an install,
for example -- what about those?

You see my point: It doesn't matter.

Leonard - if you have no relevant information in regard to my question, why
bother reply to this at all. Leave it to me to judge the importance of my
question and find something constructive to do with your time.
Your personal opinions are of no interest to me at all - or anybody else.

That's because I do not give people rope with which they can eventually
hang themselves. Especially people not practiced with searching the web.
Best of luck with your quest. I won't bother you any longer.

There are three Event Logs ( there is not one for Internet Explorer )
and they are quite small. You can make them smaller. I would not
recommend deleting them. A good reason being if you want help here they
are useful when attempting to diagnose a problem.

The default maximum size setting for Event Viewer logs is too large.
Reset the maximum for each log from 512 kb to 128 kb and set it to
overwrite.

Please do not abuse others trying to help even if you do not value their
advice.

Hope this helps.

If you are talking about the error reports that are generated when you
see this message, they are not
stored anywhere permanently - The debugger creates them for the error
and then deletes them.

The DrWatson debugger creates files which are stored in %SystemRoot%
\Drwatson, you may delete at your own risk.

The Windows Event logs are stored in %SystemRoot%\System32\Config
as .evt files, but I would strongly recommend against deleting the
files manually - use the Event Viewer to manage them.
