Hello
I have Windows XP home edition installed. I also have Norton SystemWorks 2004 installed. Both have the most recent updates from the Web.
My problems
- My computer freezes and I have to turn power off (locks up)
- My computer will shutdown and then reboot on it’s own.
- When I start my computer after a normal shutdown, it won’t boot. The light will come on the tower, but it won’t do anything
- Other times when I start it will lock up at boot and various times during Windows start up
- Other times I will get the black screen with a blinking curser during startup

I do the virus scan and when the rare chance it does stay running for the whole scan it says I have no virus. I run Norton Utilities and it says no problem with my Windows program. Any advice

Well, we don't know how much RAM you have, nor the size of your hard drive
or what processor or what else you have on that box, and that would help to
know, since Norton System Worse uses about 150 megs of disk space plus, like
their Antivirus package, is a real system sloooow down in my experience.
Just my opinion, but with XP, who needs all that bloat that may or may not
'keep your ssytem running fast', or, in your case, not very.
I bet Norton is a major part of your problem.

Let's see if I can find that info
64 MB Ra
1.0 Gh
AMD Athlon Processo
It says I have 37 GB with 33 GB free on the hard drive.
I disable the Norton "live update" and the Norton that scans everything when I open it. That really slows things down.
The Norton might make the computer lock up, but would it make it shutdown and then reboot? Or my problem with it not starting?

Thanks for the input so far
