"Iexplore has caused an error in kernel 32.dll" error message

I am using Windows ME and Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106. I am starting to
regularly get this error message:
"Iexplore has caused an error in Kernel 32.dll. Iexplore will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer."

A restart will work for awhile, but the message soon re-appears. Please
advise.

B. You may need new video drivers. Check the site for your video board
manufacturer. Meanwhile you can do the following:
1. Use the default mouse pointers.
2. Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop and choose
Properties | Appearance | Settings) Some people find that increasing color
depth helps.
3. Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (For Win 98, Start |
Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button) You will
see little, if any, performance degradation.
4. Turn off your desktop wallpaper.

If these make the problem go away you need new video drivers.

If you have an ATI video board, try adding these lines to System.ini

DevBMP=0 <--- That's a zero

Hi Robert :)

You may have a hijacker, malware, spyware or parasites on your system
causing this problem. Thus, in addition to running your updated anti-virus
program, you should do the following to be sure none of these are present on
your system. Although you may have already run one or more of the programs,
please do so again according to the instructions below. Be aware that some
variants of malware can replicate themselves over and over if not removed
properly. Please follow all instructions carefully to be sure your system

(If you download and use the updater from the beginning, it will

NOTE: If you can not download these programs from the Internet, if your PC
has CD read capabilities, go to another computer with CD-ROM burning
capabilities. Create a folder on the hard drive of the other computer called
HOLD, download the programs to that folder, then burn that folder to a CD.
Copy the HOLD folder to your HD and then install the programs from there
and run them. After you have IE access again, update all programs where
possible to get the latest definitions and run them again in Safe Mode to be
sure there are no lingering items on the system.

I cleaned my system and that error message seems to have disappeared.
However, IE is now crashing regularly and when it crashes I am now getting
this message:

When I send it, I get a message back that "A solution is not available."
Microsoft then advises me to use anti-virus and other security tools, all of
which I have fully in place.
