Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL

I recently installed updates to my Internet Explorer 6

Now it quite frequently halts with the message

Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
Iexplore will now shut down.

I looked through the knowlegde base but don't see any
answers.
