IE6 History Folder

I am attempting to completely clear my IE6 history, but
some web addresses remain. I followed the link provided
(thank you for your help) to
mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm and followed the
instructions. I was allowed to delete the files contained
in the History and the Temporary Internet Files folders,
however I was not allowed to delete the folders
themselves. I was given a message that the folders are
needed for Windows to run properly and therefore could
not be deleted. I still have addresses in my IE6 history
and I want get rid of them. I am running Windows XP Home
and I am logged on as the system administrator. How can I
delete those folders?

You will not be able to delete the folders.

The index.dat file is the key, when deleted all is gone.
A new one will be recreated.

May be you are not in pure DOS, if you only go to the Start/Programs/MS dos
prompt this will not work you have to boot to DOS. Read the article.
