History Folder

jeff

I recently installed IE6 but for whatever reason my
history button will not display ANY history. Furthermore,
I looked into my history file folder and the historyIE5
folder that used to be there is no longer there. Finally,
when I tried to create a folder inside the History folder
(just to see if I could) right-clicking won't display the
option to create NEW folder. What's going on?

How can I remove and reinstall the whole IE. I tried once
or twice, hoping these files and folders would return but
the uninstall doesn't actually remove all the folders and
when I try to maunally delete the history folder it
doesn't let me.

i'm working through a LAN and have administrative access
but the darn folders will not remove or fix iteslf when I
reinstall.

HELP!!!!

Jeff,
History problems can be caused by the ActiveX Control filters in McAfee
AntiVirus. If you disable the "Active X Controls" filter under the Internet
Filters in VirusScan the IE History should work properly.

Or... Your History folder may be damaged.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
See: How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Deleting the History folder should result in a new one on restart. You
should always clear the History from Internet Options> General>....

Hope this helps,
