HATE new Windows Mail

I am going nuts! When I write new message or forward, the "contact" opens up
every single one of my 350 contacts. I have to scroll through the whole
thing to find the 15 or so friends. It's taking me A LOT time. Setting up
"new group" is not an option, as I don't use the same people each time. The
old Outlook Express has different folder you can open up and I can pick from
there.

One of the comments to this problem is to reverse the sequence for e-mail.
They suggest that we open "Contacts", open the folder that is desired and
select the addresses desired using the "CTRL" button. Once the addresses are
selected, click on the "E-mail" button and the new mail window opens with the
addresses in the "To" box. This works well, but with one exception. We, as
amateur users, have been told not to put multiple addresses on the "To" line
but put them on the "BCC" line. The method suggested above apparently does
not allow this to be done. Is there any way to correct this?

The new mail form opened by this process doesn't even have a BCC line. If
you can find a way,, please let us all know.

After you open a new mail window, go to View and choose "show all headers"

Richard - Thank you. I tried it and it works. Its a bit more cumbersome than Outlook Express, but it does save time going through a ton of addresses. Wish that MS would go back to the old method of entering addresses. Again thanks.

Actually Quiz. The method of entering addresses in Windows Mail is exactly the same as used in Outlook Express
If you click on the "TO" at the left of the address line in a new mail, your address book will open and you can pick one or more addresses and then click in either the TO, CC or BCC window on the right hand side. That puts the addressees in the correct header.

Yes, I understand that it can be done that way. However, the original
problem here was that you needed to go through a single list of all addresses
in your address book as you have stated. WM does not let you select from
addresses within folders that way. I have my addresses "categorized" by
folders with each one having maybe 40-50 addresses. Its a lot easier to
select from a list of 40-50 than from one that is maybe 400-500 addresses
long especially if the e-mail is intended for only one category of people.
Thanks for your help.

I don't know exactly WHEN they added it, but Plaxo does currently have a
toolbar for Windows Mail. I am using it. There are still a few bugs but they
have been diligent in trying to resolve them.

TinaMarie, I am in COMPLETE agreement with you. I understand EXACTLY what
process you are talking about and why you are frustrated. I work the same way
you do. I wish there were a way for us to actually SPEAK with someone from MS
without having to pay for it. We could gently explain/show the missing
functionality and have them write it up as a product enhancement. But that
just doesn't fit their support model. :-(
