FASTFAT.SYS and SP1

after installing SP1 the computer gives a blue screen of death and a
fastfat.sys error

and only after several restarts I can get into windows.
The strange thing is that I read that fastfat.sys has to do with fat system,
but I have NTFS!

Is there anyway I can fix this,

will installing SP2 fix it?

I have another computer with SP2 can I take the fastfat.sys from there and
replace it?
If not how do I expand and replace the file?
The cdrom is not SP1, its the original XP, does that matter?

I have already tried SFC /SCANNOW

This System File Checker program should have scaned
Windows XP for missing or corrupt system files and replaced
them with the correct versions.

Could it have failed?
