Problem with Driver

Ok heres what happened. I went looking on the net for an
updated device driver for my trident 3d accelerator card. I
clicked on a link for downloading the driver. All that came
up was wierd symbols, letters and numbers. I also updated
my Direct X version 9. then I restarted my comp and I get
this message:

The following file may be missing or corrupted.
System\Drivers\Fastfat.sys

I restarted it in safe, recovery, and all the options I had
with windows XP. Nothing Worked, so I used the system
restore and I still get this problem. The only way to get
past that error is to put my Win 98 cd and type Fdisk/MBR,
after that everything runs but at very low memory and bus
speeds. What can I do to fix or replace my
System\drivers\fastfat.sys?

Run scanreg /fix . (Note the space between the g and the slash). Have your
xp CD handy as it may call for it
