Error message Cannot open Outlook

I am using Ofiice 2007 Outlook. I VPN into work and usually leave my
computer on for days. Today when I went to read e-mails, I saw a huge nuber
of Syn Conflicts in the left pane. I closed Outlook and re-opened (also shut
down and restarted) and I get the following message: Cannot start Microsoft
Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot
be opened. The folder specified cannot be found. I have search my computer
for user\AppData\local\Outlook and it seems to have disappear. I did check
my mail online in OWA and, thank goodness, calendar and contacts are all
still there.
How can I get outlook to open?

Perhaps you forgot to reconnect to the VPN?
Either way, your error indicates that the Exchange server is currently not
available/reachable.

I am connected to the VPN and (obviously) I am connected to the Internet.
The darn Outlook program is the only thing that will not open. In looking at
the users\AppData\local\Outlook (which is what it cannot find on the open), I
no longer see that file either. That is what my config is but in searching
on the computer all I could find was AppData\live (I do not have this folder
title exact here) -- is it possible that if I point that folder, it might
open -- the error message does say that it cannot find "the set of folders."
Also, MS update did install SP1 a day ago -- could this be it. I have even
gone back a 3 days on restore points and that has not helped.

I am having the same problem as of today (rebooted my computer after
removing old programs, and that's when it all started). I tried
restoring, but no luck. Have you figured out the problem? I am using
Vista with outlook 2007.

I had the exact same problem.

It seems the fastest solution is to create a new mail profile using the mail
tool in the control panel.

Hi All

Yes this is definately an issue with Outlook 2007 . I had 91 Sync Issues (1-91) folders and then on an outlook restart the same meesage.

My Solution wast to find the hidden outlook.ost and rename it to outlook1.ost

Outlook opened connected and resyncronised !

I think the Microsoft MVP needs to look at this issue more closely.

Regards all

Any with this solution, contact me

Why not just delete it?
I think the Microsoft MVP needs to look at this issue more closely.

MVPs are just users like yourself and cannot influence Outlook's design or
implementation.
