My microphone doesn't work. When I go to Control panel> Sound and audio
devices> Voice> Test hardware it displays the error:

"An error occured during DirectPlay Voice setup. The error code is
0x80004005."

Upon clicking the ok button, a windows error dialog pops up saying:

"Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remoe programs control panel
to install."

My audio driver is Realtek AC97 Audio
Windows XP Home Edition SP2

any help would be appreciated
and if anybody knows a way to get my microphone to work that has nothing to
do with this that would be helpful too

Start | Run <type in> DXDIAG <enter>

I ran it myself and the file DpvSetup.exe is installed on mine.
Version 9.0c

Might reinstall DirectX
