Can't clear Start>Run / IE6 URL cache

Hello.

Forgive the crosspost; however, I don't know if this is a WinXP issue,
an IE6 issue, or a bit of both.

I've noticed that certain Web addresses that I've visited stick around
permanently in the history, so that if I go to the IE6 address bar or
to Start > Run and type "h", they all appear in the auto-complete
dropdown ("http:// ..."). There are only about half a dozen of these
unclearable addresses, and I can't see any pattern or anything they
have in common.

Things I've tried:
- Deleting cookies, files, and history in IE6's Tools > Internet
Options.
- The Clear button in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.
- TweakUI's "Clear document history on exit". (Wow.)

Anyway, it's harmless but very annoying. Why might this happen, and
can I prevent it?

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
will delete the History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will
be created when you restart.

or.. the History folder can be deleted manually:

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
should be able to clear the History and the index.dat file.
Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Since we don't know the url's for those addresses, do the normal scans
for malware:

That did the trick, and seems to have some other useful features.
Thanks.
