bad news for Firefox and KDE....

I do not say that some elements of linux are not good. However overall it
just stinks for desktop use!
Wash your hands then.
Maybe switch on your brain and realize: it is superior.
[...] replace windows for
linux on every machine out there... and NOTHING will be done!
Productivity will fall [...]
Little child... there is a difference between playing and working.
Furthermore it can be compromized just like any OS if hackers wanted to. If
it was used by more people it would have been.
hacking != cracking
usage & cracking: the oposite is proven -> apache (60% + x)

There is a reason why even though linux is free, it is still being much
ignored by the majority of users.
yes, there are reasons, but they maybe to deep for you. once you grow
up, you may understand ..

I just cant stand people saying linux is great and windows is not.

That's the problem. Learn to stand it, or at least find a better way
to respond than by starting more of your FUD threads.

I will never accept it, but I can ignore it...

er.. why Im I posting to no one? strange.. I thought.... must have been my
imagination....

no one can work on a linux machine. Only if they are writers.

And even they switch soon after seeing what linux really is about!

As for servers, no creation is being done using the machine.

Windows is the top productivity OS.

You are the hobbyist. Go play with your distro cds....

Other people may have more time for adminstering their machines. Linux
is not so bad, but my knowledge about a multi-threading multitasking
hyper OS, like NT, Mac10, Linix, Apache!? and so on, is not enough for
linux.. erm. I mean my Time.
So you could spend more of your time to your postings.

Some sites are targeting firefox now...
A client of mine got a virus from a java that was installed from a site
using firefox.

So well for the security claims.. As I have said... When people use you, you
are a target.

And about KDE? Read here:

KDE flaws put Linux, Unix systems at risk

http://news.com.com/KDE+flaws+put+L...+risk/2110-1002_3-6029297.html?tag=html.alert

I keep hearing people complaining that MS is patching windows all the time.
They do not understand that patching is a universal thing... for any OS or
program
that is a target. And again.. a target is something that is used by many
people.

Linux is NOT immune!
I'm confused. You talk about firefix and linux but it seems like most
of your complaints are directed against linux.
As one of those average windows users, I use firefox because I can, so
far, count on fast repair of security problems. That wasn't the case
with IE. I've never heard or read anyone refer to IE as a beta.
At the same time, most "average" low tech windows users like myself know
enough to have virus software installed and not to put 100% trust in any
browser.
I don't understand what your reason for posting this was.

I also just point out that if linux was used by many, viruses and exploits
would come out for it also.
So there is really no immune OS.

An open source OS will always be more immune (not totally immune, but
more immune) to exploits than a closed cource OS.

But that's like pointing out that a pound will always be heavier than
an ounce, isn't it?

There is a reason why even though linux is free, it is still being much
ignored by the majority of users.
BECAUSE IT STINKS!

The majority of computer users know as much about computers as you
know about Martian currency. They use Windows because that's the
program that runs the computer they (or their company) bought.

The vast majority of competent computer users (technically competent
ISPs, backbone providers, router manufacturers, etc.) use a *nix
variant.

If all Windows installations were to stop working tomorrow there'd be
a lot less traffic on the internet. If all *nix installations were to
stop working tomorrow there'd be no internet.

A

Al Klein

no one can work on a linux machine. Only if they are writers.

That you can't figurte out how to do it isn't the same as it can't be
done. There are millions of people all over the world using *nix
machines for actual productive work.

A

Al Klein

turn your monitor upside down if you want to see bottom posts!

The opposite of top posting isn't bottom posting, it's threaded
posting, which is the accepted norm on usenet, and has always been.

K

kenny

If all Windows installations were to stop working tomorrow there'd be
a lot less traffic on the internet. If all *nix installations were to
stop working tomorrow there'd be no internet.

You are correct. There would be an internet with no one on it! lol
Oh there would be the nix administators sending emails to eachother asking
"where did everyone go"?
:)

And talking about that, you forget that the internet would not have been
developed so much in the first place if there was not a platform that was
easy to use
(windows) for more people to join the internet. The internet boom came
because of the popularity of windows, and people who had learn the basic
skills so they could
take the step and connect.

Therefore with no windows, there would be no internet for unix machines to
serve. The internet is clearly a windows revolution, the unix machines are
the servents (servers).

K

kenny

Its a double post...

for those who are firefox fanatics independent of what platform they use

and for the linux users who have a superiority complex.

K

kenny

Nope. You just dislike what I say.
