Almost had enough

You got the problem. I can't help it if one doesn't know what he or she is
doing. I brought a new computer too. I have had no problems with Vista.

Simple minded people often like to pretend others are dumb just
because they were lucky enough to not run into any problems. Often
problems have little or nothing to do with what people know, rather
what particular hardware/software combinations they're using which is
most likely very different than yours.

Wear your dunce cap proudly because people that whine like you're
doing are the real crybabies in my opinion because you can't see the
forest for the trees and you obviously have zero compassion for fellow
users that have genuine issues due to no fault of their own. I can
also guarantee if YOU had a problem you would be screaming your lungs
out.

Sorry if that's too deep for the Mr. Arnolds of this world to
comprehend.

So that is your solution to every problem. Check out Ubuntu. So if you had
Erectile Dysfunction you would say check out Ubuntu? If your car wouldn't
start, you would say check out Ubuntu?

Not every issue is solved by installing Ubuntu

No, he is not correct. This is a peer to peer help group and exists so
people can ask questions and get answers. The OP did not ask any
question nor did he request help.

Vista works well for many, including me. Rather than general
complaining, why not ask a specific question about something and see if
there's a way to correct it?
The driver vendors have trouble putting together a package
that works properly.

I have to say the drivers for some devices were slow in coming but,
with one exception, all those I need are in place and the people who's
hardware is the single exception on my PC, Logitech, have emailed me
that they are working on a fix and have, in fact, already released an
update to their software. Have you contacted the vendors directly? I
did and have been pleased with the effort Logitech has shown so far.
The inbuilt paranoia level is beyond acceptable.

You'd NEVER make such a statement if you'd ever had to disinfect a
machine at work or a friend or family member's machine from the stuff
newbies can inadvertently pick up....

Stick with it, your problems are probably solvable, you just need to
ask the right questions.

Really? LOL, and you go Hopalong Cassidy riding to the rescue. You need
to ride off and go give someone a blow job, because that's all you're
doing here Hopalong, instead of chasing me around in this thread.

Are we a bit cranky today?

Sorry, this is not quite a peer-to-peer help group.

According to Microsoft.........

'Newsgroups are online threaded discussion groups in which people converse
asynchronously to exchange ideas and information. There are over 2,000
newsgroups dedicated to discussing Microsoft products. Locate the right one
for your technical questions about the Microsoft products you use and post
your question.'

MS believes newsgroups are a place to exchange ideas and information, which
*includes* getting help.

Becoming unstuck aren't we Mr Arnold?

Looks like Mr 'Joe Blow clueless user' (as you chose to describe the average
Vista user in your last thread) is starting to strike back. And in the war
of you against the rest of the world I wonder who will win.

But then of course you'll never read this, since you plonked me long go,
didn't you you plonker.

PS you've clearly never studied Spanish.

Hi Romane,

I did a clean install of Vista Home Preimum on my Sony laptop, but
only after Sony had released drivers for all the parts of it that were
important to me. They have since released the others, except for
one's that MS's updates provided me. My laptop was running XP,
and it's just as fast with Vista as XP.

I also replaced Office 2003 with Office 2007, and Sony provided
Vista compatible updates to their programs. The only other program
I needed an upate to for Vista was Delphi, and Delphi 2007 fixed
that as well.

I have had no crashes at all on my Vista box, and it only gets
rebooted when MS does it as part of an upgrade. Obviously,
if you don't have a quality computer, your experience will
be more frustrating. I refuse to buy laptops from anyone but Sony,
and have had the last several towers custom built for me, although
next time I may go with Sony on the tower also. I'm done with
generic PCs from companies like Dell or Gateway. You exchange
money saved for frustration experienced, and it's not a good swap.

Well, actually vista (business edition) runs very smooth and stable on
my machine,
my software and even games working fine als well. Maybe its due to my
good hardware but it was known to me before, that i would need quite a
machine for vista...

regards, hm

And you have a machine that is prone to viruses and malware. Not to
mention that Vista is expensive and Ubuntu is free.

That makes it pretty clear, doesn't it?

Thanks to Vista, I have almost had enough of Windows. The software is
slow, and even bundled applications regularly crash out of the box. The
driver vendors have trouble putting together a package that works
properly. The inbuilt paranoia level is beyond acceptable. Microsoft seem
to have succeeded only in putting together a package that will take a
powerful machine and grind it down to its knees. Even my XP box, with far
far lesser specs, beats the living pants off my Vista box, and with far
better stability and reliability. This latest version of Windows truly
deserves the old name of Windoze.

Perhaps if you stated which apps are crashing we could help you fix the
problem. Have you gotten actual errors? What were they? What kind of
hardware do you have?

I will wait for Service Pack 1, but if that does not see an improvement,
then after many years of Windows in its various incarnations and versions
I will be seriously looking at Linux as an alternative.

What problems are you expecting the SP to fix? You haven't listed the
actual errors you are getting or the hardware that you are running the OS
on.
