Well... no. It's your -opinion- that you're providing a public service.
Absolutely no different than me going into the Ubuntu ng and posting
to -every- -single- poster who is having problems with Ubuntu, and there are
scads of them, that they should try Vista because "it's better."

And you know what? I see no Vista folks trolling in the Ubuntu group. You
may rationalize that in any number of ways, none of which will have any real
meaning in the end. The fact is, this is a ng to support Vista issues. Just
like the Ubuntu ng supports Ubuntu issues.

There are a number of reasons that folks may be frustrated with Vista. I
think your posts discount "out of hand" that there may be solutions to a
person's Vista issues.

I see 109 posts from you in the Ubuntu ng since January of this year. I see
1300+ posts from you in -this- ng since April of this year. That seems like
a hugely lopsided metric. One would think you'd exert the most effort
attempting to assist those using your OS of choice.

1,200 posts of those though are probably him and frank going back and
forth trying to insult each other. =)

If you don't like my posts, I suggest that you don't read them. If you
don't have the self control not to read my posts, use the kill file

'effin person that has a problem with Vista.

Nor do I.
"Don't like Vista? Try
Ubuntu." is not, imho, a very helpful response.

Why not?
And those people that
listen to Alias's suggestion and move to Ubuntu? Guess what? They'll
have a better chance of him/her answering their Ubuntu questions in this
ng because he/she obviously spends -way- more time in this ng than
he/she does in the Ubuntu ng. For real.

Lang

I spend a lot of time on the Ubuntu ng, READING. I am new to Ubuntu so I
therefore am *learning* and not in a position to help people yet, except
with a few things. I also spend a lot of time *reading* other Ubuntu
forums and web sites. I found these sites by opening Fire Fox in Ubuntu
where the home page gives links. What happens when you open IE7 with
Vista? You get the MSN home page which doesn't have one single link to
anywhere to help you with Vista or XP.

Perhaps not every single person but WAY more than could be considered
acceptable in a ng for a different OS than Ubuntu.

Because it's trolling. Plain and simple. Again, yet -again-... this ng is to
assist folks who are having problems with Vista; to attempt to fix those
problems in Vista. Not to say "give up and try something else." Geez...
every OS has it's problems... that's -why- these ng's exist. A casual stroll
through the Ubuntu ng discloses what? Folks with problems. BIG SURPRIZE! I'm
not, and Frank's not, hanging out over there going "Try Windows, Linux Sux"
every time someone says they're fed up with Ubuntu. (And, yes, those "fed
up" posts exist, even with Ubuntu.)

If you used Vista on a regular basis, you'd know that the help system is
vastly improved. Don't need to open a browser to access it. You're READING
in the Ubuntu ng to learn. Great. I wish you the best of luck with that, and
I'm -not- kidding. But... you're -not- READING in -this- ng to learn, but to
post contrary and inflammitory opinion just for the sake of it, apparently.
And that, as I should guess you can fathom, rubs the wrong way.

Subjective opinion. Frank thinks I should *never* mention it. You think
I should mention it less. Turns out, that's a call I gotta make.
Because it's trolling.

No, it's a viable alternative.

Plain and simple. Again, yet -again-... this ng

This group says vista.general on the door, not vista.help.
Not to say "give up and try something else."

Even if it's a good idea?

You're not here to assist others with Vista. You're here to ply your own
agenda. Which is exactly no different than Kevin posting his conservative
political claptrap. Except you like to throw in insults and personal
assaults. There are other 'nix fans who hang out here. Some of them actually
assist Vista users. Without insults and personal assaults.

Don't make me laugh! That's the most childish and weakest statement I've
heard you make in the last 30 seconds. You don't have any 'balls' and
certainly no brains.

I'm not near as stupid as you are as to be going into an ng just to
cause trouble especially when I don't even use the os...like you don't
have Vista yet you constantly bash it and then push liunx. You are
certainly a real linux loser and nothing more than a stupid side show freak.

By suggesting a viable alternative to the DRM ridden and "anti piracy"
program ridden "OS" *is* helping people with Vista. I rarely resort to
personal insults, unlike people like Frank and Justin who can do nothing
else to defend Vista.

Only a side show freak like you would believe that all linux distros are
totally immune from viruses, trojan's, etc. Even linux programmers
believe otherwise. I chose to believe them, not you.

I agree with Frank 100% on this. Viruses exist for Linux, they exist
for Apple, they exist for BSD systems. Solaris and the rest too! With
a market share of less than 5% for everything EXCEPT Microsoft Windows,
the virus writers have nothing to show off for their "skills," if you
want to call it that.
As I said, you don't have Vista and you don't know Vista so you cannot
intelligently comment on it. If you believe otherwise, you're only
deluding yourself and your not fooling anyone...other than yourself.

Alias wrote the first quoted line in this block...

The shear childishness of the above statement is quite telling. You need

BOTH of you are childish. I really wish you two would stop bickering in
this damn newsgroup. STOP it, both of you. I'm sick of it. Take it to
emails if you feel you should pollute this NG. You're not helping the
helpers or people who need help. STOP it. Please, I beg you.
More proof that you know nothing at all about Vista.
Live with that fact and grow up for goodness sakes.
Really!

Vista is commercial software, just like Adobe Photoshop. You can use
the GIMP and Inkscape to create graphics too! Does that mean I have to
use them?

Alias, Ubuntu is free, but it is "shit-colored" -- I'm fed up with all
Linuxes. In fact, tonight I wrote a rant that outlined everything wrong
with Linux -- and for someone who has played the field equally (Mac,
Windows, Linux, BSD [and a touch of Solaris]), I have to say that Linux
is seriously the worst system out there. Even with Window's problems,
Microsoft has done better developing a computer system than ANY, and ALL
Linux systems I try. I have tried a couple dozen to date. I am not
going to try all 350-some Linux distributions to find the 'perfect one'
-- not a logical thing to do. but when 24 tried of 350 total systems
suck, I give up on it.

Both of you two have had a rare good point here and there. But you two
bickering seriously does NOT belong here. Exchange email addresses and
duke it out between you two in a private medium and leave us who want to
help, here without wasting bandwidth on you two bickering.

This NG has been host to several off-topic discussions, but bickering
still doesn't belong. I ask you kindly, please take the bickering to
private methods.

Hilarious, you condemn "Both" for bickering and then opine a totally
biased view of the subject they are allegedly bickering about. I assume
you are either a Lawyer or a Politician.

Envy the former, don't care about the latter.

the "envy" of the former is a hairline envy. Some of them still are
ambulance chasers, to which I would rather run the ambulance chasers
over with said ambulance.

No, I felt that if I was going to reply (at all) I might as well put my
say, and give Frank and Alias their piece too.

I'm surprised that I hadn't seen much more responses to my post though.
