Almost had enough

R

Romane

Thanks to Vista, I have almost had enough of Windows. The software is slow,
and even bundled applications regularly crash out of the box. The driver
vendors have trouble putting together a package that works properly. The
inbuilt paranoia level is beyond acceptable. Microsoft seem to have
succeeded only in putting together a package that will take a powerful
machine and grind it down to its knees. Even my XP box, with far far lesser
specs, beats the living pants off my Vista box, and with far better
stability and reliability. This latest version of Windows truly deserves the
old name of Windoze.

I will wait for Service Pack 1, but if that does not see an improvement,
then after many years of Windows in its various incarnations and versions I
will be seriously looking at Linux as an alternative.

Why do you post to a NG and whine like this?

I have been using Vista since 04/2007, and I don't have any problems using
it. I guess it's based on who is behind the wheel and doing the driving.

I suggest that you don't let the door knob hit you in your behind on the way
out.

R

Tried Ubuntu (among many) but actually prefer Xandros (I have 3 computers,
networked, one of which is reserved for experimenting/trialing various
versions of Linux). That, however, does not solve the issue with Vista. I
will wait for service pack 1, remembering issues that previous versions of
Windows have had at first release.

And why do you, who supposedly are here to help people, actually use the
newsgroup to denigrate other people and their opinions. Unable to deal with
criticism, are we?

I don't give a rat's behind about it. I use Linux too and don't have a
problem with MS or Linux platforms.

You're just one of these people that needs to whine, which I suspect you do
in everyday life too.

The reality is that you're no one and don't let the knob hit you on the way
out with your whining.

You should take a couple of aspirin and go lay down on the couch, and maybe,
in a couple hours you'll have a fresh outlook.

It is sad that every group seems to have someone with an elitist attitude.
Made even worse when combined with a sarcastic tongue. Compounded by an
arrogant attitude. Now that I know you, I know that I can ignore you.
Good\night, Mr Arnold.

the op is complaining about a low quality product, and he is correct in
doing so.
YOU are the one whining about people that are expressing their opinions.

I suggest that you stick with your linux and windows machines, and do not go
into places where you have to interact with real people.

's OK. I just stick people like him on ignore. There has to be one in every
group.

As I have said in earlier posts, I am hopeful that the first service pack
will address all these issue. I see consistent feedback here and elsewhere
about the same problems I am having. Does anyone have any updated news on
the service pack (last I heard, about September)?

Neither one of you *clowns* would know a low quality anything if it hit both
of you dead in your faces. :)

XP fixed the issues with Windows Me. Vienna, if Microsoft is still
around, may fix the issues with Vista.

Really? That's why I messed with you, just to see your reactions, it's
typical.

You should look on the door knob, before it hits you in your behind.

You almost had enough. <g>

Hi,

Does anyone have any updated news on
the service pack (last I heard, about September)?

"Also in the memo, Microsoft attempted to undercut Google's reason for
extending the consent decree by promising to release a beta Vista
Service Pack 1 (SP1) before the decree's Nov. 12 expiration."

Seems you're doing plenty of whining yourself boy.

How many dopes need to put Mr. in their nick?

Only one I see. LOL!

I have to agree with Romane - I keep telling myself I should look forward
and stick with Vista. I made a dual boot, just in case and am I glad.
Vista is really slow. Bought a new PC and there is no improvement, just more
problems. Forget that I have hardware that won't run in Vista. Can't get
Hotmail, as in OE. I get 100% cpu spells that just lock everything up. Too
much!
Intel E2660, 2Gb, GT8500, Sata 400 + 80
I'm going back to XP until things improve, sorry.

I don't doubt that Microsoft will still be around. Too many big businesses
with too big an investment at too big a cost to make any other than a very
slow and extremely cautious move to alternatives. And then we have inertia
(ia...ia...ia...ia... fading into distance)

I think I was one of the few that had a very happy success with ME, but
cannot say was reluctant to make the change to XP (grins).

I can live with some of my third party programs being incompatible and
needing upgrading, but please, Microsoft - the eye candy is nice, but I
would rather live without all the eye candy and with stability and
reliability. With Vista, I feel I have simply wasted my money - I could have
purchased another XP Pro license for about a quarter of the cost and none of
the headaches.

I had a similar problem. Have an Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 at 2.4Ghz. Found that
Nero had an item started as a process at start-up that just sat and hogged
CPU resources. Killed it in Task Manager/Processes, and CPU utilisation,
though still higher than expected (read - still not happy), dropped
dramatically, now within acceptable levels.

So, stopped anything by Nero from starting at boot by deselecting them in
msconfig, and CPU utilisation is better; now to work out how to stop
Defender telling me at boot this is what I have done, and the unnecessary
subsequent dialogue boxes.

You got the problem. I can't help it if one doesn't know what he or she is
doing. I brought a new computer too. I have had no problems with Vista.

I got one machine still in storage, and if it's not compatible with Vista,
then guess what, Vista won't be installed on it.

But am I going to sit up in some NG and start whining about my problems. I
say no. I wouldn't do it.

That's all this person is doing is whining. And he or she wants someone to
pat he or she on its head and say it's ok here is a tissue.

The person needs to go get a life or take a couple of aspirins and go lay
down some where.

Tell that to Texaco. TWA. Pan Am. When you treat your paying customers
like they're thieves and hold them in disdain, the business cannot
continue "as usual".

In the mean time, you could boot a Linux Live CD to see how it fits. The
Live CD will boot and run from the CD with no install and without touching
the hard drive. My personal favourites are Knoppix (also a Live DVD) and
Elive.
