I get the above error message while trying to run the ZoneAlarm
installation executable zapSetup_45_538.exe. I know the file is not
corrupt because I downloaded it twice. I also checked for viruses and
re-installed IE6 as suggested at the ZoneLabs site. Any other
suggestions will be appreciated.

thanks

That file (vsinit.dll) is the True Vector service library file.
Without it Zone Alarm can not work correctly or at all. Do you by
chance have another copy of Zone Alarm running while you're trying to
install? If so, shut down Zone Alarm first. If that doesn't work,
shut it down and stop the True Vector service from running.

Hi James,

Delete the contents of the temp folders, there may be a file in there
interfering with the setup routine of the installer. Get both:

C:\Windows\temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp

Turn off all other running programs, especially your antivirus software. Use
ctrl+shift+escape, if necessary, to "end task" on everything.

Now retry installing the software.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried everything without success. What
an annoying strange problem!

If it helps, each time I run the installation program, I get a
different file name in the caption bar of the error dialog box. For
example:

"c:\doc....\temp\GLB14.tmp"
"c:\doc....\temp\GLB1A.tmp"
....etc

thanks again

Hi James,

Have you tried disabling your antivirus software yet?

Hi Rick,

Yes, I disabled the antivirus software. Not only that, but I also
stopped everything I could in the taskbar tray, also under services
and under processes!

thanks
