Validation failed. Root certificate

R

My computer has just had anew motherboard installed under warranty and now
I find I cannot use Zonealarm because - I quote the error message -
Validation failed to C:\ ..........\VSINIT.dll. You are probably missing a
necessary root certificate.

What can I do about this?

Thanks

Have you tried uninstalling zone alarm, and then reinstalling it?

With a motherboard change it's essentially a 'new' computer to ZA.
Uninstall first (start, all programs, zone labs, uninstall...)

Now download it again from the webpage www.zonelabs.com/

Update it and you're up and running again.

The same thing will happen when you do a windows "update" as ms
used wga to create a hardware/software profile of your computer;
a new motherboard is considered a different computer as the
motherboard is not in the hardware profile.

Actually, I did try to uninstall and reinstall before I put out this
message, but I got the error message in Add/Remove Software and it wouldn't
uninstall. However, I tried again after D Currie suggested and it worked
this time.

Thanks all for your help.
