I have recently installed ZA on the 'host' (Primary) computer of my two
computer LAN. Both machines run Home Edition. Occasionally, the
network breaks down if I reboot either machine. Running ipconfig /all
on the Secondary machine reveals its IP has changed from what I had set
up for it in Zone Alarm. I have tried to Repair the installation of the
LAN connection from Secondary but it fails. In order to do the repair,
I have to go to the Primary and shutdown ZA, then go back to Secondary
and do the repair and then return to Primary and start up Zone Alarm.
Things work fine from then on until the Secondary IP gets out of whack
again.
Is there a way to avoid this problem? I would be quite happy to be able
to run the repair from Secondary without having to shut down ZA on
Primary. Of course the ideal would to find a way to prevent the
Secondary IP from changing.
BTW, before installing ZA and using just XP's firewall, I could do the
repair from Secondary.
Thanks for any help on this.
