Zip file problem

Bill

I recently upgraded a Windows 98SE laptop to Windows XP
Professional. Window's XP's built-in handling of ZIP
(compressed) files did not upgrade correctly, and I had to
manually set file association to open ZIP files using the
built-in option for compressed folders. However, there is
no option to create ZIP files or folders that I can find
anywhere. I have searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base to
no avail.

I know that I should have done a clean install, but what's
done is done. Now that the user can open ZIP files things
are much better, but it would be great if he could also
create them.

Can anyone help?

Thanks much,
Bill

Hi Patti,

Thank you for responding so quickly. I have already seen
that article, and unfortunately there is no option to
create a new compressed folder by either clicking
on "File" and "New" or by right-clicking. I will probably
have to create that option manually, and I don't have the
slightest idea on how to do it.

Thanks much,
Bill
