Zebra 2746 stops printing after every single page

Hello Everyone,

We just switched our Zebra 2746 Label Printers from a DOS Software to
Windows XP. Now, due to the windows Driver, it prints properly but
stops after every single page until the page printed before is torn
off.

Has one of you come across a similar problem and knows how to solve
that? Any comments would be highly appreciated :), as I've been trying
for several hours now without any signs of success.

Many Thanks in Advance
Richard

We are mostly using those smaller Zebra 2824 and 2844 label printers,
but we have had similar looking difficulties with some of our
applications also. Mostly our apps are Delphi and CBuilder written.

The new 2844 comes with two different driver sets on the CD. The first
and default Zebra driver did not print anything. Not from any Word,Excel
or any test application at all, but also no error messages appeared. We
run these tests on two different W2k machines, while that's the Windos
version our customer uses.

The second Zebra driver got installed when I installed some Zebra label
software from the driver CD. And this Zebra driver finally did print
something, but only on every second label. It always jumped over one
label, no matter what label sizes and settings we tried.

Finally we decided to try with some older Zebra driver. We have
occasionally sold these printers for several years with no problem. The
bad thing is that Zebra's home page offers no older driver versions to
any of their printers. For instance HP has a collecton of older drivers
also, and that has solved a lot of compatibility problems during the
last decade.
As far as we could find, there is only the latest Zebra driver availabe
for each printer, and that is the driver that came with the Driver CD
also.

Luckily we got the older driver version from one of our clients, and
installed that. Poofff, Zebra started to work at once! And on all W98,
W2k and Win-XP machines just as it should. No problems with any label
sizes or applications.

These drivers are as old as from the year 2000. But that does not matter
me as long as they do the job I want to.

[Version]
DriverVer = 12/05/2000

[Eltron]
...
"Eltron LP2742" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Eltron TLP2722" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Eltron TLP2742" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Eltron TLP2844" =
ZEBRA99.DRV,USBPRINT\Eltron_TLP2844_0733
"Eltron TLP3742" = ZEBRA99.DRV

[Zebra]
...
"Zebra LP2844" =
ZEBRA99.DRV,USBPRINT\Zebra_LP2844_5BC4
"Zebra TLP2684" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Zebra TLP2722" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Zebra TLP2742" = ZEBRA99.DRV
"Zebra TLP2824" =
ZEBRA99.DRV,USBPRINT\Zebra_TLP2824_F37B
"Zebra TLP2844" =
ZEBRA99.DRV,USBPRINT\Zebra_TLP2844_F29B
"Zebra TLP3742" = ZEBRA99.DRV

I have no experience about those bigger 2746 models. I can only quessing
that from the lista above the "Eltron TLP2742" or "Zebra TLP2742" might
work with your Zebra printer, and possibly could solve your problem
also. Or if you can find older drivers targeted specifically to your
2746 printer, also they may work

Only some hours? We had 1..2 guys at client's site, spending more than a
whole working day struggling to get the Zebra to print.

Now we have regularly installed those "Generic" Zebra/Eltron, year 2000
drivers to all of our customers. And asked them NOT to update these
drivers neither from the internet nor from the accompanying Zebra driver
CD.
