" You are not authorized to view this page"

Why I am getting " You are not authorized to view this page" for the
most mundane download pages, e.g. Lexmark driver download etc?
Maybe something I have done wrong in the IE6 security setting ?
Also, last week I did do some network setup betwen my XP desktop and
98Laptop

Thanks.

Hi LF :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

You are not authorized to view this page error

Open Internet Explorer >Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab
Uncheck "Show Friendly HTTP errors" check box
Click OK

also....

This can also occur if the date setting on your computer is incorrect. Check
your machine time with General time and be sure it is correct. If not, then
reset it as follows:

Quit all running programs.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. In Control Panel, double-click Date/Time.
4. In the Date/Time Properties dialog box, select the current date and time,
click Apply, and then click OK.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Thanks. Jan T1:

Done Both. And also WinSock fix etc.
But still getting message "the object has been blocked."

After a google search of "the object has been blocked."
and following a suggestion in the Net:
I turned off both 1) Zone Alarm Pro 2) Google Tool Bar PoPs Block.

Now Not getting the error msg and am able to reach the Lexmark site to
down files.

How to fine-tune Zone Alarm/Google Tool Bar to avoid the problems on my
XP/IE6 computer?

Here is information for both and, hopefully, they will be able to give you
more information on how to properly configure them for your particular
machine.

Yes, it was caused by Zone Alarm. Why/How, I do not know.

But the problem has gone away after un-installing/re-installing Zone
Alarm.

Thanks.
