After installing Validation Tool + 5 updates and re-booted checked
update history and everything seems to be in place, But yellow Shield
shows up on re-boot saying KB935839 and KB935840 are ready for
download. Anyone else ? Ron

I got the same odd behaviour but in my case, for KB 929123. The shield
wouldn't go away despite a couple of reboots, so I let it try again even
though there was nothing for it to do, and it all seemed to go away.

I get that on and off on some computers
all I do is double click it- uncheck the ones it wants to install and when
it comes up with a box that says it will not notify me again I check that
box to the left of it and say ok and shield goes away
the shield is funky from time to time
I find I ask it to do a download it does it- then it never comes back to
install (I find this alot with WD updates) or it might come back a day later
to do an install.

There are lots of possiblities: 1) servers have a significant load on them
and not all the updates got out in one bunch. The updates are sometimes
prioritized, so, say, the malicious software removal tool might come in
separately from more critical patches.

2) you might have a repeating or stuck patch--check the WindowsUpdate
history to see if this is happening.

3) some patches seem to need to be installed on their own without others at
the same time.

Usually my WU updates go perfect so i started to think that the install of
39 and 40
might have gone bad, but everything seems all right. Thanks for the help
