I installed the "critical update" for my windows xp home
edition which was called Service Pack 1. It asked me to
restart my computer after it installed. I did that. Now,
it won't even go to the login screen because it says that
there is a fatal error. Was there a virus in the
download? I'm mad now because we have two computers in
the house, and now one of them is unusuable because of
that "critical update". Why did microsoft do that to me?
I'm really upset because now I have to pay if I want it
fixed. Also, is there a way to fix this? WHY!?!?!?!?

Don't know why you had a bad eXPerience with SP1,
but you can easily perform a "Repair Install".

I'm guessing that your XP install was of a pirated copy of
XP.

Hi

Go into Safe Mode and uninstall SP1. Then try the Windows Update News Group
