xx click on icons does not open drives.

Win XP Pro; i have icons on my desktop and in "my computer" double
clicking on either doesn't open my cd drive or my external hard drive. I
order to do so, i must right click on either icon and select "open".
All my other icons work properly.

Yep. A little side effect from one of the security updates. Hopefully it
will be fixed. MS is aware of the problem.
