x's where pictures should be

when i go to a page on the internet, most of the spaces where pictures or a
small video should be playing or shown is a blank box with an x on the top
left corner. I have a macromedia shockwave downloaded, and I have flash
player downloaded and java run environment from sun java installed, can
somehelp me

Is there a firewall that your using? or possibly something that blocks sites?
if so then that could be blocking the images, set them down a little lower.
Or in some cases (rarely) the images just might not be there.

Internet Options - Advanced page. Look down for the Multimedia section
and make sure that at least Show pictures , play videos and play sounds
are checked (I have all the boxes in that section checked)
