XPe on existing EPOS kit

N

Nick Whatley

Hi,

I've not been able to find a simple answer for this anywhere...we have a
customer who is looking to replace the NT image they have on their EPOS kit
with an XPe image.

Is this ok under the licence terms ? - all I've read seems to suggest that
XPe is available to OEM's for install on to their kit - but nothing saying
customers can buy and install on old kit.

As an aside - can anyone tell me if the licence allows customer to buy EPOS
hardware from OEM, and then arrange for 3rd party to develop XPe build and
have it installed on the OEM hardware during commissioning (i.e the OEM kit
arrives with no build / licence for XPe). The customer plans on buying the
XPe licences direct from a reseller.

Many thanks

Ni Nick,

There is no problem with MS as long as your customer signed agreement and
buy tools and COA stickers trough regular distributor channels. (This is no
problem do to.)

You will need to provide one COA per old device. And make sure that device
manufacturer (not MS) allow you to install your OS.

Regards,
Slobodan

Nick,

To get most accurate answers for your legal concerns you may want to contact an XPe distributor or MS legal.
