My XPe Studio CD's and license key got burnt up.

Hello,

We had a fire at my company a while ago.
My CD kit with my XPe studio cd's and license key got burnt up.

Is there anyway I can obtain new CD's? I have the studio installed on a
computer and
can take a screenshot to show that the studio is licensed to my
company.

Our supplier of the kit says that they or MS can not do anything about
this. We need to buy a new kit.

Is this true? Feels like a rippoff..

Best Regards,
Gustaf

This is why you get insurance...

Gustaf,
Who is your distributor? Do they have your PID on file?
Thanks,
Oren

The PID is on the inside of the shrink wrapped package. I doubt they'll
have it on file.

If your house burns down with your new plasma TV inside, are Sony going to
give you a new one free of charge?

Ciao

Stuart,

This is not a plasma TV.. Its SOFTWARE that we have already paid for.
We still have the software installed and we can prove this by showing
Target Designer running with our Producut ID licenced to our company.

The thing is with software, as I understand it, is that you don't own it
- you've just bought the right to use it, for as long as you have the
disks and bits of paper to prove you're allowed to - otherwise, what's
to stop you installing it, selling on the disks and paperwork, and then
doing just as you are to get a new copy? If you have had a fire, how did
this PC with the software installed happen to escape? If you were so
underinsured that they wouldn't pay out for this one piece of software,
I would expect you to have rather more pressing concerns. Nasty
business, smoke damage.
