BartPE and XPe license

Hi,

I couldn't find an answer in this group for this question:

We will ship a USB key with our XPe machines as backup media. On that
there will be an image software (True Image, Ghost or so). But to have
more possibilities for maintaining the system, we would like to install
BartPE on the key.

Is this BartPE on the key licensed with the XPe license sticker (I
know, BartPE is made from installation files of XPP)? I think it
should, because you can only boot either from internal media or from
USB. Or can you create BartPE with XPe files?

If we create such a USB key as a tool for the service technicians, then
we have to license each of these keys, haven't we?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Lewis

BartPE is based on WinPE technologies.

Microsoft provides the way to OEMs with CLA to use WinPE for recovery, field
upgrade and

diagnostic/maintains solution for free with some restriction of course.

So I don't think that BartPE can be used under the WinPE license.

But I think you can develop you own WInPE-based solution and use it for
needed purposes.

You can view additional licensing provisions for WinPE at OEM web-site

or request it for reference from nearest MS embedded distributor.
