xp wont start - stops at agp440.sys

Hi.

Laptop worked fine yesterday and shut down OK.

Now won't start.

When I try to start in safe mode or command, it gets as far as line
containing agp440.sys and stops.

What do I do now?

Many thanks

Neil

Hi again,

Fine now, but I tried about 8 times with lsat know, safe adn command modes
before it worked!

It's a 3 month old installation to a new HD, so does this indicate anythng
or it just a Windows mystery?

Cheers,

NEIL

this happened to me twice in my life as a Windows user :)

1. Upgrading from Win2k to WinXP. After working until midnight to
make it work, I gave up and went to sleep. The next morning it booted
without problems. I think it was the heat that was messing with the
system.
2. Upgrading the processor. I was doubtful that my windows files
became "corrupt" after upgrading the processor, so "repairing" my WinXP
does not make sense. What I did was go to BIOS section and re-detected
all my master and slave drives. Does it make sense? I don't know. It
worked for me.
