XP won't restore window properly on old DOS game

Hello,

I'm trying to run an old DOS game on XP. It runs fine at first, but if
I switch to another window (using Alt-Esc or the Windows keyboard
button, for example) and then try to switch back, the graphics get
garbled. Specifically, it zooms in to a corner of the screen and
flickers. Any idea if there is a way to solve this problem? Thanks.
