Can't Get Dos Games CD Working on Windows XP

I want to know how to get an old dos-based game running, constructor, which
runs with a cd. The problem I got to run it is that DOS shell cannot
recognize the CD. I already tried to use the compatibility applet, but it
hasn't worked at all. Can anyone help me?
