XP Updates

I am running XP SP2 with all the current updates. In fact, that is my
problem. The computer downloaded KB923980 (security update for XP) and
installed it. Now, rather than going away, I always have the icon (gold
shield with exclamation point) saying I have new updates to install. No
matter how many times I install the update, it keeps coming back. I've tried
rebooting after installation to no avail. Any help or advice would be
greatly appreciated.

In that case, it's always a good idea to download and install that
particular update manually. If this doesn't work either, ask here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate
