XP unable to access some websites

I'm running Windows XP SP2 on an AMD Athleon 64 machine with Linksys router
and using SBC DSL.

I noticed that 1) I have to use IP addresses instead of computer names when
mapping to another computer shared drive and 2) My brower (IE 6 and Mozilla
Firebird would time-out with a Page Can Not Be Displayed for a few websites.
ie. http://texasonline.com for instance.

I have another machine running Win2K on the same network without any
problems. What is wrong with my XP installation?
 
Have you done anything to your hosts file? Are you sure you are virus free?
