More networking problems

I am trying to set up a home network structured as follows: DSL modem
connects to Linksys RT41-BU wired router, which connects on one hand, by
wire, to a computer with Windows XP Pro and on the other hand, by wire, to a
Linksys WRT55AG wireless router which connects to three computers, two by
wireless with Windows XP and one by wire with Windows Me. I have used
ipconfig to find IP addresses and set them to be trusted by each machine's
security (Norton Internet Security). I have run the home networking wizard
several times, always with the same result: none of the computers can see one
another. The computer connected directly to the gateway router sees the
gateway router, but nothing beyond. The other computers see absolutely
nothing. I did a live chat with Linksys, and was told that they do not get
involved in networking. Please help.

Did you setup the WRT55AG to use your configuration?
Doesn't the router manual describe how to configure the router for this
configuratio? The one for my Linksys router does.

I got from your description that the machine hooked to the wired router
cannot see those hooked to the wireless router. So, what are the ip
addresses for all of the computers?

It's pretty amusing that Linksys tech support said that they "do not get
involved in networking," given that that's the purpose of the products
they sell.

You're trying to set up a network with two NAT routers. That won't work
very well. What you need to do is to configure the WRT55AG to be in
"access point" mode. That means you have to do the following:

1. Turn off the DHCP server in the WRT55AG

2. Connect the WRT55AG to the RT-41BU using one of the LAN jacks on the
WRT55AG. Leave the WAN/Internet jack open.

3. Configure the LAN-facing IP of the WRT55AG to an IP address in the
subnet used by the RT-41BU. Looking at the manual for the RT-41BU, it
appears that its LAN-side default address is 192.168.15.1 and its DHCP
server assigns addresses in the range 192.168.15.100 - 192.168.15.254.
Thus, configure the WRT55AG to have a LAN IP address of something such
as 192.168.15.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Note that you are
changing the LAN-facing IP of the WRT55AG, which defaults to
192.168.1.1. Make a note of the address you set it to and tape it to
the top of the WRT55AG. Once you click "Apply," you will be
disconnected from the WRT55AG's configuration utility and you must use
the new IP address to re-access it.

Run ipconfig on all computers. Ensure that all IP addresses are of the
form 192.168.15.x with subnet masks 255.255.255.0.
