Wireless networking is not available on this computer

Hello, I have been using a wired network connection via a Linksys router
(Windows XP) on this computer. Now I want to install a linksys wireless
adapter. The installation runs fine, but Wireless Networking never shows up
in Network Connections. Linksys tech support says it is a problem with my
Windows. Short of reinstalling Windows, how can I make Wireless Networking
available?

Thanks

which wireless adapter exactly? do you have SP2 or SP3? some of the
older wireless third party installs actually disable Windows built
in wireless networking management tools and setup their own utility.
