Hello,
This is very basic I'm sure but I simply can't find the
answer to it after much searching. I have a new XP laptop
that I want to add the capability to print from a printer
attached to a W2K box that lives on the same (home)
network.

I don't know how to get the XP box to see the W2K one.
Once I do that, I figure that attaching to the printer
will be fairly straight forward. I've already downloaded
the XP driver for the printer.

Thanks for your assistance in this.

If you are going to connect to the printer via USB cable,
XP Professional will find and install the printer for you.
If you are not using a USB port, you will have to install
the "logical" printer in XP. This is accomplished by going
to start/control panel/printers and other hardware/add a
printer. Follow the directions in the add hardware wizard.
