xp system utility, can't remember please help me

i have recently been getting a lot on messages on startup about files missing
and the like. a year of so ago i emailed microsoft and they told me about a
windows utility but i can't remember it now the the life of me. you just
typed it into the RUN box and you had to have your windows xp cd in so that
it could check your windows files aganst the ones on the cd. i think it was
something like diskcheck or wincheck or something but im not sure. can anyone
help me to remember what it is? please

From Start>Run type

sfc /scannow

You may need to have your XP CD to hand.
