I'm missing a file in my windows folder and can't repair it.

Whenever i boot up, my 'puter tells me I'm missing/have a corrupt file in my
windows folder (windows/system32/config/system if I remember right).

It then tells me to reboot with the windows xp install cd and pick repair
from the menu. When i do, I'm told that setup cannot continue because i dont
have any hard-drives installed. I have 2. If I just choose to install
normally, i get the same error message. So now im stuck, dont know what to do
and cannot figure it out on my own.

Can anyone help me/tell me what's up?

I presume that you have a MB which has facilities to use SATA drives as well as
PATA. When you have PATA at some time in the boot process you have to hit F6 and
place the PCI1284 floppie in the floppie drive the text file on that looks like:

Windows NT4 PCI Port Driver Licence Agreement

Sounds useless - but that is the txt file on the floppie - then and only then
will it work. I do have the disk handy and if needed I can put it on my website.
