XP SP2 upgrade - lost IE icons

I upgraded to XP SP2, and the icons for IE on my desktop and in the Quick
Launch part of the task bar disappeared. I got the one on my descktop back,
but I can't figure out how to get it back in the taskbar. How can I do
that?

Right Click on Start
Click on properties
Click on Taskbar tab
Put a tick against Show Quick Start

Right click the IE icon and hold...drag it to the quick launch and release.
Choose copy here from the menu.

If you mean "show quick launch", that was already checked. The quick launch
is there - the IE icon just vanished.

That worked, except that I didn't even have to choose "copy here".

Thanks!

Type IE4UINIT.EXE in RUN box to initialize the IE settings and to place the
shorcuts automatically. Windows runs this command upon the first logon to a
user account.

Thanks for that useful information, but I already got the icons back by
using the method suggested by someome.
