Problem:
Windows XP workstations upgraded to Service Pack 2, which exist outside the
server VLAN, experience SLP problems.
Tested Scenarios:
Pre-System State: Newly formatted PC with SP1
Installed SP2 then Novell Client = SLP Failed
Installed Novell Client then SP2 = SLP Failed
Increased SLP Wait Time = SLP Failed
Disabled SP2 Firewall = SLP Failed
Enabled SP2 Firewall and opened TCP Port 427 = SLP Failed
Disabled Network Related Services = SLP Failed
Rolled back SP2 = SLP Success
Moved PC into same VLAN = SLP Success
After Login, Disabled and Enabled NIC = SLP Success
After Login, Disconnected and Reconnected Network Cable = SLP Failed
After Login Shut/No Shut Switch Port = SLP Failed
SLP info is sent out via DHCP.
On windows XP SP1 machines, there's no problem locating DAs. However, when
we install SP2, we get the following error:
*****************************************************

After trouble shooting switch settings, putting a packet sniffer on the
login etc. we found that if after bootup, we disable the nic, then enable
it, it gets the correct information:
